Warrior

by Abigail Ball

the warrior stands with her arm raised and bow ready
the eyes stretched combing the land

before she is ready to fight
she was shown the lay of the land

the lay of the land was old land
with a new fight and a new meaning

for all had risen up to fight against the old way
they had been taught through the generations

for they were hungry for new place but all was taken
so, the warriors came and scoped the lands to find
the ones who are willing to stand for the new land with the old soil

thunder rolls in as they prepare
none of them fret for they know who's side its on

the warriors wait for their commander to come and ignite the way
for he is with the general conversing on the moment to go forth to battle

"For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder; and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end..." Isaiah 9:4-7
